June 2, 2025
Red Bank, N.J. (June 2, 2025) – Denholtz, a leading privately held investment management firm, announces the hiring of Jonathan Callahan as General Counsel.
Callahan brings over 15 years of experience to his new role at Denholtz. As General Counsel, he will oversee all legal matters and serve as a key member of the firm’s executive leadership team, providing invaluable support to Denholtz’s capital markets, property management, and asset management operations in particular.
“Throughout his career, Jonathan has demonstrated a proven ability to enhance and transform the organizations that he’s been part of,” said Katie Kurtz, Chief Executive Officer at Denholtz. “We are confident that his deep expertise and diverse skillset will help us achieve our strategic growth goals.”
Callahan added, “Denholtz has built a strong reputation and garnered industry-wide respect over the past several decades. I am excited to join the firm during this exciting chapter and work closely with Katie and the entire leadership team to strengthen our infrastructure, improve operational efficiency, and execute our growth strategy.”
Callahan joins Denholtz from Related Management Company, the captive management subsidiary of The Related Companies, where he served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel. In this role, he oversaw all legal and affordable housing compliance functions for the company’s expansive corporate platform, as well as 450 multifamily properties across 23 states and the District of Columbia.
Prior to his time at Related Management Company, Callahan served as Managing Counsel at Reliant Realty Services, LLC, a New York City-based full-service property management firm that has since been acquired by Nuveen. During this time, Callahan redesigned and operationalized the company’s in-house legal department, which resulted in a significant reduction of rent arrears and an influx of monthly cash collections.
Earlier in his career, Callahan also held roles as Litigation Counsel at StuyTown Property Services and CompassRock Real Estate, LLC, where he most notably oversaw the creation of an in-house litigation team for the largest rental multifamily project in the United States, and Associate Attorney at Rose & Rose, a boutique real estate litigation and regulatory firm. He holds a Juris Doctor from Yeshiva University and a Bachelor of Arts from Syracuse University.
